Job Description and Duties

The Budget Management Branch provides budgetary and fiscal support for the CDCR’s multi-billion dollar budget.  The Branch is responsible for developing the Department’s budget. This is accomplished through several processes including: Budget Change Proposals, Population Adjustments, the legislative approval process and legislative changes, and various other adjustments.  The Branch is tasked with determining and distributing funding levels to the various organizations and institutions via the allotment process.

Under supervision of a Supervisor I in the Budget Management Branch (BMB), acts as primary budget contact for assigned programs, divisions, institutions and/or juvenile facilities and performs analytical work of less complexity as it relates to the preparation and maintenance of the Department's budget. This position requires the incumbent to communicate effectively (orally and in writing); develop and maintain knowledge and skill level related to specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools, and equipment; complete assignments in a timely manner and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application’s progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from  [email protected] or DoNotReply@CDCR (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.

Working Conditions

The position(s) is eligible for hybrid telework, in accordance with

the Statewide Telework Policy and will be required to report to the office as needed/required.  The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
