Personal Trainer

YOUR IMPACT
The Personal Trainer provides professional and educated one-on-one or small-group training service to members and develops fitness routines that will satisfy member goals. Under the guidance and supervision of Healthy Living Director, the Personal Trainer will be responsible for guiding members through effective exercise programs. Responsible for building a strong network of relationships with members, growing and maintaining client base for personal training and designing, implementing and leading specialty programs as needed.

WHAT YOUR DAY MAY LOOK LIKE
No two days are the same in this role — but every day centers on helping members feel stronger, healthier, and more confident through safe, motivating coaching and a welcoming wellness environment.

• Lead personal training sessions that are safe, energizing, educational, and goal-focused
• Support members with wellness coaching, equipment orientations, and healthy living guidance
• Build strong relationships with members and help create a welcoming, inclusive fitness community
• Teach proper exercise technique, equipment use, and safe workout practices
• Maintain accurate client records and track progress as needed
• Keep fitness spaces clean, organized, sanitized, and operating to YMCA standards
• Communicate with the Healthy Living team regarding inventory, maintenance, and daily operations
• Promote personal training services and build your client base through member engagement
• Stay current through trainings, meetings, and ongoing professional development
• Follow YMCA policies, respond to emergencies, and report safety concerns promptly

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION: 1 Position

Position 1: SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Schedule Varies
$25.00 per hour when personal training clients or teaching fee-based classes
$20.00 per hour for all other positions in the Healthy Living Department

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Nationally recognized personal training certification (ACE, NETA, ACSM, NASM, ISSA, NSCA, Foundations of Strength & Conditioning at the Y (Offered by ACE) V2.0)
• Excellent knowledge in the area of health and wellness
• YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within six months of hire
• One year of training clients preferred
• CPR, AED and First Aid certifications required within 90 days
• Current Praesidium Academy trainings
